Hash House Harriers: Are you following your “True Trail”?

There are many lessons to be learned from the Hash House Harrier experience which applies to finding Balance in our Minds, Bodies and Spirits:

1. The path to finding one’s true trail works well in a community with a common goal.

2. The willingness to take a risk going down a false trail in life but ready to make the necessary course alteration to find your true trail.

3. Finding true trail requires an open heart and an adventurous spirit.

4. A willingness to leave your ego at home, not afraid to fail, look foolish, or asking someone for help is a formula for success.

5. Finding true trail is about the journey, the joy of seeking, learning, working together, the exhilaration of being a member of a team, and the joy of just doing it.

6. Learning to trust your inner voice, your intuition, and willing to take a Leap of Faith to find the answers.

7. Knowing that the risk of finding true trail may mean letting go of a strongly held belief or core value which we have held our entire life.

8. The rewards of finding true trail can be the joy of knowing your life is in balance, your body is healthy, your spirit is soaring, and your emotions are free from the burdens of fear, lack, and the unknown.

9. The excitement of joining others just like you who are seeking, willing to share, who will support you, never judge you, and are ready to catch you if you fall.

10. Ready to keep life in perspective, be willing to laugh, be silly, let your hair down, get in touch with your playful energy, and make every moment important.

Finding your “True Trail” is a metaphor for finding Balance in your Life. It is about opening your heart and mind to all of the wonderful possibilities in life. It is about revealing all of your beauty, radiance, and magnificence in the human experience.

Happy Trails

Success Secrets – How Do You Adapt to Change?

Change happens whether we want it to or not. Some people welcome change and find ways to turn the unexpected into an opportunity for growth. Others become frightened and simply react. How we handle the inevitable changes in life is key to living a life without fear. The right attitude can mean the difference between allowing unexpected life changes to keep us from achieving our goals or dealing with the changes and growing because of them.

When we are confronted with unforeseen changes in our lives, our first response may be to either run away from it or fight against it. Run or fight is an inborn survival instinct that occurs when we feel threatened. Fueled by adrenaline, the run or fight response is exhausting and leaves us feeling overwhelmed. However, there are steps we can take to gain control of our fear, embrace the challenge and turn adversity into an avenue for success.

Gaining Control
Our first response to sudden change is often panic. Rapid breathing, sweaty palms and eye twitching are all signs of extreme alarm which keeps us from dealing with change in a positive way.

Deep breathing is one of the easiest and most useful techniques we can use to calm and center ourselves.

Follow these deep breathing relaxation steps:

Sit up straight in a comfortable chair in a quiet, darkened room.
Close your eyes.
Try to make your mind blank. Don’t think about the challenges you are facing.
Inhale through your nose slowly and deeply while silently counting to five. Feel your lungs fill with air.
Exhale slowly through your mouth while counting to seven. Expel all the air from your lungs.
Repeat as often as necessary.
Physical exertion is another great way to regain calm. Take a walk or weed the garden. Being outdoors in nature is helpful but the treadmill or exercise bike will work, too. Remember to take deep breaths; refrain from shallow breathing while exercising.

1. Reach out to friends and loved ones. Simply having a cup of tea with a friend can greatly reduce that feeling of panic.

2. Get some sleep but don’t overdo it. Clear your mind and do some deep breathing before retiring at night. Get up at the same time each morning. Don’t use sleep to avoid dealing with the challenges you must face.

3. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Stay away from junk food, caffeine and sugars.

4. Other useful techniques to calm stress include meditation, a warm bath and aroma-therapy.

Once the panic response is under control, you can face the problem and think about solutions.

Meeting the Challenge
Give yourself time to adjust. Your mind and body will show you the way to meet the challenge if you listen. Your attitude makes all the difference when dealing with adversity. Train your mind to see the change as a way to make something positive happen. Do not entertain negative thoughts.

Ask for direction from your spiritual force. We are all part of a universe that is much bigger than we are. Whether you call the source God, the universe, nature or your inner self, you are connected to a spiritual source that can not only help you through life’s changes, but can point the way to success.

Write down different choices that you have in response to a change. Ask yourself the consequences of each response, both to yourself, your friends and family. Remember, you will only be successful in meeting this challenge if you stay true to your core beliefs and values.

Picture yourself in the best case scenario after you have succeeded at meeting this challenge. Believe it can happen.

How Change Becomes Success
Unexpected changes often take us by surprise. We may feel as if we have lost our foundation and or are swimming against a rip tide. But change can give birth to our greatest life successes if we open ourselves up to the possibility.

What are the secrets that turn life changes into life successes?

1. Remain true to yourself. Never compromise your beliefs even if it is expedient or seems like the only way out at the time.

2. Listen to your spiritual source. You have asked for help, be receptive when the answer comes.

3. Think outside of yourself. How will your choices affect your friends, family, community and the earth on which we live? You are part of a much larger world and if you make decisions that benefit all, you will benefit yourself.

4. Dream your dreams. Your dreams cannot become reality if you don’t allow yourself to dream.

5. Be patient. Turning change into success may not happen overnight. Knowing that your spiritual source, mind and body are all working together toward one goal will help you stay focused and, in the end, become successful.

6. Help others. While we may be going through change and adversity ourselves, it is through helping others that we truly grow and succeed.

Success is measured in different ways in our society. Most commonly, it is measured by how many cars or homes we own and how our possessions compare to our neighbor’s. The fact is that having money does not necessarily equal happiness. True happiness comes from meeting life’s changes and overcoming challenges while remaining true to ourselves, knowing that we have lived our lives to the fullest, that we have valued others and that we’ve made our planet a better place.

Leadership Skills

The 9 Ways To Improve Your Leadership Skills

1. Have a clear vision of yourself, others, and the world.
Who are you? What do you stand for? What is your life purpose? How do you want to influence others? How do you want to contribute to yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, and the world? Answer these questions to formulate a concrete vision of yourself and your world. Then, start living your life as the leader who makes your vision a reality!

2. Know and utilize your strengths and gifts.
You have unique gifts that you were born with and personal strengths you’ve developed over your lifetime. Realizing and utilizing these gifts and strengths will assist you in being a formidable leader.

3. Live in accordance with your morals and values.
Making choices and taking actions out of accordance with your morals and values leaves you with a nagging “Bad” feeling. This feeling seeping in from your subconscious mind hinders your success in your career and your relationships. On the other hand, making choices and taking actions aligned with your morals and values helps you succeed almost effortlessly. People sense integrity and will naturally respect your opinion and leadership.

4. Lead others with inclusiveness and compassion.
The greatest leaders are those who include everyone in their sphere of influence by recognizing each person’s greatest value. To be one of these leaders, look beyond the obvious and see others with insight and compassion. Many of history's greatest leaders have admitted that they rose to the top because another leader recognized and harnessed their potential.

5. Set definitive goals and follow concrete action plans.
You have to know where your destination is before you can map out a plan to get there. To improve your leadership skills, first set specific life goals with appropriate timelines. Design your goals by moving backwards from the end of your life to the present week. Then, formulate action plans you can commit to that will get you to where you want to be.

6. Maintain a positive attitude.
No one respects a grumpy or negative person. With a positive attitude you are looking at the bright side of life. People are naturally attracted to you when you have a positive attitude. By being positive, you will lead a happier life, as well as be surrounded by other positive people. You will also magically attract exciting offers and possibilities.

7. Improve communication skills.
Having great leadership skills includes your being able to clearly and specifically communicate your vision, goals, skills, intentions, and expectations to others. This also includes your ability to listen to what other people are consciously or unconsciously communicating. To become a great communicator, continually strive to improve your verbal, nonverbal, and listening skills. 8. Motivate others to greatness.
A leader is as powerful as his team. As a leader, you will want to surround yourself with a powerful team by assisting others in recognizing and utilizing their strengths, gifts, and potential. Motivating others to their own greatness will improve the group energy, increase the vitality of your projects, and move you forward toward achieving your goals and vision.

8. Be willing to admit and learn from failures and weaknesses.
Face it – No one is perfect, and everyone has made a mistake or two in their lives! The most successful leaders know that the key to success is not in avoiding falling or failing, but to learn from their mistakes. As a strong leader, you will also be able to communicate your weaknesses to your team, so that you and your team can appoint someone who excels at that particular task or activity.

9. Continue to educate and improve yourself.
Great leaders continue to improve themselves in every possible way. The person who thinks he is an expert, has a lot more to learn. Never stop learning. Be receptive to everyone’s perceptions and information from around the world and beyond. Grow….grow….grow….learn….learn….learn

Types of Love ! :)

Based on different types of love present in the society, love has been given numerous names. An attempt to put down different types of love in psychology has been made in this article. Eros, Storge, Pragma, Agape, Ludus and Mania are the six different types of love that are known by the intensity and intent of how we love someone.

1.Eros- The Passionate Love : Perhaps, this is the most evident form of love, that we all have experienced in our lives, at some point or the other. Eros, as the name suggests is a type of love, in which the desire, physical attraction, physical appearance and romance is given the top priority. Since eros is mostly an erotic feeling, there are higher levels of passion and physical intimacy.

Physical attraction can be at peak but in the long run, it fades owing to over importance of physical aspects of the relationship. People who love this way are very charged up, emotional and gung ho about their relationship initially but it fades as time passes.

2.Storge- An Emotional Bonding : Storge love is the familial love, we experience in our society. The love of our parents and siblings is what constitutes storge love. It is beautiful to experience family bonding and lucky are the people who have families. A baby and a mother share an amazing love, that can be read in the their eyes. A deep and abiding affection is something that comes from deep family relationships. When extended to love between couples, storge love focuses on building compassionate, caring and emotional bonding with the couple.

3.Pragma- The Need Based Love :Amongst, different types of love, pragma love focuses more on needs and wants, educational qualifications, professions, income, social status, common hobbies, parental possessions, material belongings of the respective partners. The main focus in this type of love is on needs. If everything adjusts to the partners needs, he or she seems to be satisfied, with the partner.

4.Agape- The Divine Love : This is perhaps the most divine and highest level of love; understanding which requires a compassionate heart. Agape is one of the different types of love in Greek, is considered to be the purest form of love. It promotes brotherly feeling and love for each other. In fact, it is exactly what all religions have been trying to teach us.

5.Ludus- The Euphoric Love : Lover's who have the tendency of being in romantic relationships for sometime and give it up, after initial euphoria of thrill and enjoyment is over, are said to be in Ludus form of love. A ludus lover does not work for long term commitments but short term goals and objectives.

6. Mania- Obsessive Love : It is the worst forms of love and as the name suggests, it is full of insecurity, mania, jealousy and other extreme reactions like obsession, compulsion and excessive demands.

7th Sense Movie today 27/10/2011

Finally got a chance to watch the most hyped movie for this Diwali 7th Sense.
Was at Prasad at 1 pm today to watch the movie with a friend. We got somewhat best seats in the auditorium L 10, L11 in the Imax Big Screen.

Now for a brief story of the movie.
Bodhi Dharma (Suriya) is an ancient Indian warrior who is an expert in martial arts and also a very good doctor who could treat any type of disease. He goes to China and saves a village from various problems. He builds Shaolin temple and trains up several Chinese people and also dies there.

After hundreds of years, China plans a bio war on India. They send a Chinese martial expert, Dong Lee (Johnny Tri Nguyen) who is also good at hypnotizing people when they are in his field of sight. He injects the virus into a street dog and goes in search to eliminate a young scientist Subha Srinivas (Shruti Haasan), who has researched that Bodhi Dharma can be brought back if his sample of DNA matches with another sample of DNA from the successor of his family.

Subha comes to know that Aravind (Suriya), a circus man’s DNA matches to that of Bodhi Dharma and follows him. Meanwhile Operation Red will be successfully started by Dong Lee. Now Subha and Aravind have to bring Bodhi Dharma back to control the almost uncontrollable Dong Lee. How they do that is the rest of the story.

Overall i did not like the movie much. Suriya as Aravind looks aimless, clueless and lost, appears to carry his Ghajini behaviour most of the time . Shruti is like a beautiful piece of China without design, should have utilised the opportunity and worked well considering the fact that she got more screen space than ever. The middle is muddled and except for the stunts, action scenes and a fresh but predictable storyline there is nothing that one can look forward to.

A HEROES CREED --- DID I ?

Did I help someone to realize a dream they thought they'd lost?
Did I listen when someone told me the reward is worth the cost?
Did I praise someone for their efforts and encourage someone toward their dreams?
Did I help someone to understand the end never justifies the means?
Did I make someone laugh and smile when they would much, rather frown?
Was I the one who picked them up when everyone put them down?
Am I, the one they confide in and know their conversations secure?
Did I provide them with someone to trust in knowing their friendship will always endure?
Am I humble and constantly striving to become more than I was yesterday?
Did I focus on the successes of others and follow through with all that I say?
If I constantly strive to become the one who can say I did to did I's.
Then my life is fulfilled, knowing I have achieved life's greatest prize.

Varsham Munduga !

I am listening to 'Varsham Munduga' - the lovely son from 'Sega movie' over and over again. Dont ask me when the movie came and gone. It bombed at the box office, the songs are good and specially this song is superb. The lyrics are just awesome and and each time, it makes me think of a new love in my head.
I suddenly have this feeling that this song will go very well...we should have a girl along with us in the car and then go to a sea facing area .. start the music and just relax.. i am sure we would be out of this world...

I can almost see myself totally lost on the road in that late hour, with the car stereos blaring out this song....yeah ok, I know that sounds bollywood-masala-crazy...but what do you do if a song induces you to think that way...

You listen to it as well and then give the feedback.

Happy Dhanteras 2011 !!!!

Goddess Lakshmi Dhanteras marks the first day of five-days-long Diwali Festival. Dhanteras takes place two days before Diwali. Dhanteras Festival, also known as Dhantrayodashi or Dhanwantari Triodasi, falls on the auspicious thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Kartik (October/November). In the word Dhanteras, “Dhan” stands for wealth. On Dhanteras we are supposed to buy something in gold or silver as per the money we make.

I along with Peenal went to Tanishq showroom which opened last week in Himayatnagar. And to my suprise the shop was full of people and there was no space to even sit or move in the shop. I really wondered how people are still buying Gold which is touching 28k right now.

Joy of Giving ... the full month of Oct

Now what is Joy of Giving Week?

Now basic question first to think about,

What do we do when we see some poor person outside on the road?
What do we do when some stranger comes to our door step in need of our help, financial or as food?
What do we do, when we know we have something extra with us at home?
Now the reply to most of these questions in our day-to-day life would be, 'NOTHING'. Always we have this thought, someone will help them. We have NGO's, minister's for what, to help them, let they do it. We should not encourage them to beg, but we should give them work (the words just fly in the air).

We buy clothes every alternative week, for every occasion and weeding's, and there is no space in the wardrobe, but still we dont want to part some of the clothes for another brother or sister of mine who doesnt have anything to wear even for a day.

We eat every other day in restaurants, and order food more than we can eat, and it just goes waste, but there is this person who sits near my house outside, who just imagines of having a morsel of food everyday, and in the contrary never does.

We roam in GPS enabled, Fully Air-Conditioned, Power Steering, and all accessories included SUV's and MUV's, travel by flights and spend our vacations on cruises, but the same another creation of God who is a look alike like me, I see him dragging himself on the road every-time I pass the road.

If we had lots of money, we could have built a ashram for them. If we had a big bungalow or a firm, I would have appointed them as my employees. If I was the minister I would have eradicated poverty all over.

All these thoughts just remain as thoughts for the time being and then they are just faded while we move some steps further!

The Joy of Giving Week is an initiative, a reminder for us every year, to start sharing and giving what we have in abundance.

What can we do about it?
Collect all the old clothes, newspapers you have at home, and give it to Scrap Dealer, and the money you get give it some poor person you know or have come across
Any un-used stationary items you have at home, give it some NGO's or organisation who have planned to collect items to give it to the poor, ashrams etc.
Join as a volunteer in collecting things, and serving the poor.
Atleast if not anything, as a last good thing you can do is share the word to all.

A Long Night Tonight !

Please do not jump to any conclusions ! ;) i know you all have some dirty thoughts in mind the moment you read the title of this ....

What i meant to say that tonight i am going to finish a new book Revolution 20:20 by Chetan Bhagat. Chetan Bhagat is definately one of the best writers in English that India ever had. All the previous wonderful books that he has written right from 5 Point someone then One Night at the Call Center, then the 3 Mistakes of my life and then the 2 States.. all of them very good reads and now it is Revolution 2020 from Chetan Bhagat.

So now pretty much i am just waiting for the book to get finished tonight or tomorrow night and i can sleep in peace that i finished the book coz i know how good this book can be.

Inner Fear of the self , and the adrenaline it produces !

Fear is strange. When we’re in a moment of life-or-death danger, we’re frequently amazed by how our brains and bodies react. That’s because the fear response is carried out by subconscious systems to which we have no direct conscious access. It’s like a separate personality lurking deep within our skulls. The only time we get to meet it is when our lives are on the line.

Fear is fast. Like all automatic systems, the fear response deploys much more quickly than our conscious thought processes. The amygdala can identify danger and prompt an effective response before our higher-level mind is even aware than a problem exists.

Fear is clever. We tend to think of automatic processes as being stereotyped, if not wholly irrational. Creativity tends to get credited to the frontal cortex. But in the laser-like focus of a life-or-death crisis, people are often able to come up with creative solutions with astonishing speed.

Fear is effortless. Automatic processes don’t require mental effort. Time and again, people who survive mortal danger report functioning with unusual clarity, as they immediately perceived what needed to be done, and did it.

Fear is unforgettable. Amygdala activation jolts the hippocampus, the region that mediates long-term memory storage. This results in the “flash-bulb memory effect”: we can vividly remember events that took place in conjunction with intense fear.
These experiences play an outsize role in how we view ourselves. They are formative, transcendent, and unforgettable.

Have you ever been surprised by your reaction to an acute crisis? Have you ever experienced danger so intense it changed the way it looked at the world? I’d love to hear your stories.

ABOUT LOVE

THE ONE WHO IS FULL OF LOVE IS THE ONE WHO IS ALWAYS HAPPY.

Contemplation:
When you are constantly having love for everyone, you'll have no negativity. Your unselfish love will make you have only positive thoughts and you'll find yourself in constant happiness.

Application:
Start your day with thinking of all the people you come in contact with. Then take a thought in your mind that you have love for all of them. This thought will help you throughout the day. You'll find yourself accepting others as they are and having good wishes for them.

YOUR LOVE FOR GOD WILL MAKE YOU VICTORIOUS IN ALL SITUATIONS.

Contemplation:
Your love for God will make you experience His companionship in everything you do. Where there is love there is never a moment of loneliness. Thus you will be able to move forward with courage in all the challenges that life brings.

Application:
Think of one situation where you have found yourself failing. Now think that God is with you to help you in this situation. When you believe this, you will find that you'll get the courage to accept and face the situation. Then you can also work and bring about a change in the situation.

THE ONE WAY TO CHANGE OTHERS IS TO DEAL WITH THEM WITH LOVE.

Contemplation:
When you have love for others, you will have good wishes for them. Your desire to change them will then be for their good and not for your own selfishness. Others will quickly respond to your unselfish love and you will find them changing.

Application:
Think of one person you want to bring about a change in. Before you think of changing that person let there be a lot of love for that person in your mind. Also make sure the change you want in the other person is for his own good and not for your own selfish reason.

IT IS ONLY WHEN YOU HAVE LOVE FOR YOURSELF THAT YOU CAN FORGIVE YOURSELF.

Contemplation:
Love gives you the power to forgive. Just as you find it easy to forgive a person you love, when you have love for yourself you can forgive yourself too. It is only then can you find yourself learning and progressing without making yourself heavy.

Application:
When you find yourself making a mistake, remind yourself that if you have to progress you have to forgive yourself. Learn from your mistake in such a way that you never repeat it and forgive yourself. Then you'll be able to move forward with lightness.

WHERE THERE IS LOVE, THE HARDEST TASK BECOMES EASY TO PERFORM.

Contemplation:
If something is difficult, it means there is no love. Where there is love, even a task as difficult and big as a mountain becomes as easy and light as cotton. Love makes work easier and lighter.

Application:
Today is the day to love your work. Whatever you are doing, remember that you love your work. Experiment with one thing that you have been finding it difficult to do with a reminder to yourself that you love it and that is the reason you are doing it.

Long time ... No See :)

Like other things, the most difficult thing to do, is to start something AGAIN and AGAIN . I had stopped writing in this blog for long till my friend send me the link to check it again and start writing again. So here i am today again to write to read for my dear friend. I will not name my friend... it is anybody's guess who would be behind me to write more and more.

Anytime I start to write something, the first problem I face is to decide the topic, and the heading....which does not mean that I don't face other problems later, but mostly, it takes me a long long time to decide the topic.

Well, simply to explain to myself as to why i am not writing.

1. I could not find time and topic to write
2. Lot of work at work place and no time to blog.
